Selon l\u2019Agence internationale pour les \u00e9nergies renouvelables (IRENA), la puissance solaire maximale nette install\u00e9e dans le monde a atteint 843,1 GW fin 2021, soit une puissance suppl\u00e9mentaire connect\u00e9e de 133,6 GW par rapport \u00e0 2020. Plus de la moiti\u00e9 cette puissance suppl\u00e9mentaire a \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9e en Asie (53,7 %), tandis que l\u2019Europe et l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord ont fait jeu \u00e9gal avec respectivement 17,2 % et 16,5 %. Selon EurObserv\u2019ER, la puissance suppl\u00e9mentaire install\u00e9e dans l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne n\u2019a augment\u00e9 que de 11 GW, dont 0,6 GW d\u2019\u00e9olien maritime. Selon l\u2019industrie, il en faudrait pr\u00e8s de trois fois plus chaque ann\u00e9e pour atteindre l\u2019objectif en discussion de 40 % de renouvelables dans la consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie finale en 2030. La Chine, apr\u00e8s une ann\u00e9e 2020 exceptionnelle (72,1 GW install\u00e9s), a ralenti son rythme d\u2019installation en 2021 avec 47,6 GW de puissance \u00e9olienne.
